Synopsis:
Customer’s Situation: Both companies (Red Line Graphics, Inc.-Red Book & Indiana Medical Printing Company-Blue Book) were under the same management and were using a method of tracking customer’s orders in order to provide them a usage history and cost savings analysis.
Existing tool before development: Outdated and limited functionality data entry process using a graphics program.
Existing Available Alternative: Fill out form by hand use the cumbersome text functions of a graphics program to fill out form.
Custom Solution Provided: A specialize data-entry program that simplified the process of filling out the form in a very user-friendly manner. Automatic usage history calculations made in the customized database file format eliminates user mistakes that occured in the previous process of manual entry. The application worked across the network that allowed any user in the building to access and update the order tracking at any time. A remote access module was created for their customer to install on their machines so they could dial-in and review their order history, but this function was not fully implemented due to additional hardware costs that management did not want to incur. A substantial time savings and accuracy of data was observed immediately.
